AAPI History: Fighting Anti-Asian Hate
with Immigrant History Initiative
Dinner will be provided

Register Today

Although Asian Americans are often stereotyped as foreigners or even "un-American," Asian Americans have a vibrant, centuries-long history in the United States. In response to early immigration policies and Asian exclusion for much of the 19th and early 20th centuries, Asian Americans continuously fought for equality and civil rights, bringing landmark cases that shaped the legal and policy landscape of the U.S.

This workshop shares the often unknown stories of resilience and strength of Asian Americans in responding to injustice.

Join us for a discussion and dinner as we challenge anti-Asian hate and learn about the rich history of activism and leadership in our communities.

Space is limited, and pre registration is required.

Distinguished Professor Erika Lee and UConn Professor Jason Oliver Chang will explore what it means to be Asian American through a wide historic lens, the current wave of anti-Asian discrimination and physical attacks, and AAPI communities uniting to join with others to fight racism and create an inclusive and equitable society. This is sure to be an important conversation as anti-Asian discrimination and attacks continue.
